The Carolina Crustacean 500 (aka Crab Races) –
If you’ve never experienced a Crab Race, get ready for some fun, exciting and friendly competition. Members purchase crabs then name and prepare them to race (Pre and Post race inspections will be enforced to maintain integrity of crab and race). The crabs race on a specially designed round track, starting from the center circle and crawling outward. The first crab to reach the finish line at the edge of the table wins. There are six elimination heats, but only one crab will take the checkered flag and baste as the Carolina Crustacean Champion…and win the cash purse! Following the Crab Race, members will enjoy cocktails and a Beachside Low Country Boil Dinner.
