The Government Affairs office follows numerous issues that affect new home construction in South Carolina.
Our intent is to keep our members aware of the actions of the General Assembly in an effort to ensure that our industry – and our members – has a level and fair playing field. We must pay close attention to fee increases, growth controls, impact fees, frivolous and abusive lawsuits, and unwarranted environmental regulations.
Our team is actively engaged with federal, state, county, and municipal officials to promote and protect the vital work of homebuilders and developers across South Carolina.
Our team works directly with the HBASC Legislative Committee, the Regulatory Committee, and the entire Board of Directors to identify policies or proposals that impact homebuilders’ ability to offer affordable housing.
From this point, we create a strategic plan to achieve the objectives as determined by the leadership of HBASC. The goal is simple: we fight to keep the dream of homeownership within reach for working families while also meeting homebuyer demands for value in quality neighborhoods.
Over the years, our efforts have resulted in landmark legislative successes and regulatory actions which create a positive, more predictable business environment for HBASC members.
